DISTRIBUTION
------------
You are free to distribute the SHAREWARE version of The Ansi Door
provided that all files contained are in the original Ansi Door
archive, and that they are distributed in their unmodified state.
WARRANTY
--------
This product is provided "as is" without warranty of any
kind. The entire risk as to the results and performance of the
program is assumed by you. I, the author, do not accept the
responsibility for system damage, loss of profit, or any other
special, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from
the use or inability to use this product.
LICENSE
-------
The Ansi Door is distributed as SHAREWARE. Under this concept
you may use the SHAREWARE version of The Ansi Door for 6 weeks,
after which I expect you to register your copy or discontinue
use. See REGISTRATION at end of file, for information. New
Keys will last for 3 months.
WHAT IT DOES
------------
The Ansi Door is designed to display your ansi screens to the
users, in a convient menu form. The user will simply have to
type in the number of the ansi screen he'd like to see, and it'll
display the screen to him, pausing at the end. It'll then return
to the Main Menu. By hitting RETURN, the user will be returned
to the bbs.
INSTALLATION AND SETUP
----------------------
You first need to create a menu, and name it MENU.ANS. You can
use any ansi editor to create the menu, such as TheDraw. The Menu
should have the descriptions of the ansi screens, along with a
number beside each one. The ansi display files should be
numbered 1-999, and have the extensions ".ANS". (EX 1.ANS) The
ansi screens must be located in the same directory as the Ansi
Door program files.
I've included a sample MENU.ANS file, complete with 20+ ansi
files already setup. So, you can test it out first, to see
what it looks like.
The Ansi Door uses DOOR.SYS, DORINFOx.DEF, and many more Dropfile
formats. (Listed below) It can be run on Wildcat, RA, QBBS,
and MANY more BBS's. (Again, listed below). The Ansi Door is ran
through a configuration file. The command line should contain
the name of the CONFIG file you're using. If you're running
multiline, you'll want to create a .CFG file for each node.
Here's what the .CFG file contains.
1 <-- Node Number
c:\wc30\wcwork\node1 <-- Path to DROPFILE
DOOR.SYS <-- Name of DROPFILE you're using (see below)
The Ansi Door supports these DROPFILES:
DOOR.SYS (Wildcat 3.x, GAP, SuperBBS,GT-Power)
DORINFOx.DEF (RA, ProBoard, RBBS, QBBS, ViSiON-X)
CALLINFO.BBS (Wildcat 2.x, Telegard)
CHAIN.TXT (WWIV)
SFDOORS.DAT (Spitfire)
CURRUSER.BBS (RyBBS)
Now, here's what a BATCH file for a Wildcat! 3.x BBS,
using DOOR.SYS would look like:
cd c:\wc30\doors\cool10
!ANSI10 !ANSI%WCNODEID%.CFG
Here's what a BATCH file for RA would look like, using
DORINFO1.DEF:
cd c:\ra\ansi10
!ANSI10 !ANSI1.CFG
The Ansi Door uses record locking on all files. It should
function on multi-node systems with no troubles at all. However,
SHARE must be loaded at all times. If Share is not loaded, it
may abort unexpectedly.
This game REQUIRES a Fossil Driver. I would suggest you
try BNU170.ZIP. All you need to do, is start the fossil
driver before the game, and you can leave it up, or terminate
it after the game. You can FREQ BNU170.ZIP, or download it
from The City Lights BBS, listed below.
KNOWN BUG
---------
There is one bug I know of, and that is the user's time
on the status bar is not updated, BUT the user's time IS
actually updated, it just won't show you the correct amount
of time left he has. I will correct this problem in a future
release.
REGISTRATION
------------
I know the expenses of running a bbs add up, and you don't
want to shell out $50 a door game. That's why I'm only asking
for $10. With Registration, you may receive the latest version
of The Ansi Door, thru U.S. Mail, or be sent a key thru FidoNET,
also you will be able to download the latest version off my BBS,
The City Lights, and many other Support Boards. For more
information on Registration, look at the file ORDER.FRM.
I will do my best to support this fully. If you have any
questions or comments, you can contact me on The City Lights BBS
